Magellan Laboratories Selects Director, Research & Bioanalytical Division

Full-service pharmaceutical development organization welcomes Michael Zhou, Ph.D., to drug discovery and bioanalytical team

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (April 11, 2001) - Magellan Laboratories, a full-service contract pharmaceutical development organization, appointed Michael Zhou, Ph.D., as director, Research & Bioanalytical Division.

With an extensive, combined background in pharmaceutical, clinical and food product research and development, Zhou has more than 20 years of analytical chemistry experience. His expertise and leadership spans liquid chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) technology to drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics as well as other areas of bioanalytical support.

Zhou comes to Magellan from Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics, a Johnson & Johnson Company based in Raritan, N.J., where he was the group leader of Bioanalytical Research & Development. Zhou also held leading scientific positions at Purdue Pharma L.P. in Ardsley, N.Y. and DuPont, Wilmington, Del.

Specializing in chemistry, Zhou earned his doctorate degree from the University of Delaware and his master's degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He received his bachelor's degree in analytical chemistry from East China University of Science & Technology.

Magellan's Research & Bioanalytical Division designs programs to identify new efficacious and safe compounds and provides bioanalytical support to all phases in the discovery and development of new drugs. The Division's high throughput collection of assays covers all facets of drug discovery, absorption, metabolism, toxicology and pharmacokinetics, while also supplying genomic-based technologies.
