Magellan Laboratories Appoints New Vice President, Robert N. Woodhouse, Ph.D.

Research Triangle Park, NC - Magellan Laboratories has taken another leap forward in its rapid growth. The contract pharmaceutical development corporation has appointed Robert N. Woodhouse, PhD its new Senior Vice President and General Manager of Analytical Chemistry.

A full-service GLP/GMP compliant contract laboratory with facilities in Research Triangle Park, NC and San Diego, CA, Magellan serves pharmaceutical firms worldwide and has reached the top echelon of its industry during its ten years of existence. It has also won numerous awards, including a 2000 Deloitte & Touche NC "Tech 50" Award (based on a ranking of 50 fastest-growing technology companies in the state) and designation as the 1999 North Carolina Pharmaceutical Company of the Year (NCEITA Award, Healthcare/Pharmaceutical Division).

Dr. Woodhouse will report to W. Lowry Caudill, PhD, President - Pharmaceutical Development. His responsibilities will center on overseeing analytical chemistry operations within Magellan Laboratories. In his senior leadership role, the company's Inhalation and Analytical divisions will report to Dr. Woodhouse.

Dr. Woodhouse joins Magellan after two decades of working in the highest levels of management with international pharmaceutical companies.

Most recently, he served as Director, Worldwide Inhalation Pharmaceutical Development for Glaxo Wellcome Research & Development-a company with which he enjoyed a 15-year affiliation. His experience also includes top-tier management positions with G.D. Searle & Company, Ltd. (now part of Monsanto), and Huntingdon Research Center (now Huntingdon Life Sciences).

During his career Dr. Woodhouse was instrumental in the launch of many prescription drugs in both the U.S. and Europe, including Zantac®, Imitrex®, Zofran®, Flovent® (metered dose inhaler) and Serevent® (CFC metered dose inhaler and Diskus). He was also involved in the FDA approvals of Advair® Diskus and Flovent® Diskus, which will be launched this year.

Dr. Woodhouse earned his undergraduate degree at Nottingham University (UK) and his PhD in Organic Chemistry at Cambridge University (UK). He completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Stanford University (USA).

During the course of his career, Dr. Woodhouse has had numerous articles printed in industry publications and given presentations on the topics of Organic Chemistry, Drug Metabolism, Analytical Chemistry, and Inhaled Pharmaceutical Development.

Besides his extensive product development knowledge within the pharmaceutical and contract research industries, he has a strong background in building and motivating international scientific/technical teams. Dr. Woodhouse looks forward to applying many of his strengths and professional interests in his new position with Magellan Laboratories.

In his free time, Dr. Woodhouse enjoys golf and horseback riding. He and his wife Jane look forward to relocating to North Carolina.
